Hyderabad, May 29: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster Kiran Kumar Reddy has denied the involvement of the Congress Party in the investigation or arrest of YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case.
“The arrest of Jagan Mohan Reddy, its unfortunate that they are trying to make the arrest and investigation by CBI, which is being directed by the High Court in all aspects. The investigation was ordered by the High Court, the investigation is going as per the direction of the High Court,” Kiran Reddy told media here.
“Neither the state government nor the central government nor the Congress party has got anything to do with the investigation or with the whole episode,” he added.
He further slammed Jagan for using his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death in a helicopter crash to gain political mileage for the upcoming elections.
“It is unfortunate, they are trying to take political mileage of the unfortunate death (of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy) in the accident. They are trying to blame the Congress party, blame the High Command and are trying to blame our leader Sonia Gandhi. We condemn it,” he said.
The CBI arrested Jagan late on Sunday evening after three days of intense grilling, sparking sharp reactions from his party and supporters.
Before the arrest, Jagan said it was a conspiracy by the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to create a law and order situation to postpone the June by-elections.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court and a CBI court have struck down his petition seeking exemption from personal appearance before the investigating agency.
Jagan’s anticipatory bail petition was also kept aside by the CBI Court. The court had asked the CBI to file a fresh counter affidavit against him.
Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to companies that invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement. (ANI)
