London, May 4: Google is celebrating late artist and social activist Keith Haring’s 54th birth anniversary with a doodle dedicated to him on its home page.
Haring, who was mentored by Andy Warhol, died of Aids-related illnesses in February 1990 when he was 31.
He was born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania, and was raised in nearby Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
He developed a love for drawing at a very early age, learning basic cartooning skills from his father and from the popular culture around him, such as Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney.
Remembering him, Google transformed its home page to resemble the American’s distinctive style, characterised by bold colours and simple lines, for the doodle, the Telegraph reported.
Each letter of its logo is made up of figures like those featured in the painter’s work, including one holding a heart design similar to one of Haring’s most famous pieces. (ANI)
