New Delhi, May 22: Three men were arrested for kidnapping a five-year-old child from central Delhi for a ransom of Rs.5 lakh, said police Tuesday. The victim was rescued.
Mohammad Kasim, 24, whose father is a maulvi at a mosque in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar area, Badri Alam, 22, and Raja Hasan Kadri, 20, were arrested Monday and the victim was rescued.
“Kasim and Alam were arrested from near Filmistan Cinema in central Delhi where they had come to collect the ransom amount. Kadri, who was with the victim at a house in Sadar Bazar area, was arrested later,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava.
The boy was kidnapped May 20 from Shadipur. The accused lured him away with a promise to get him an ice-cream, said Srivastava.
Kasim was known to the victim’s family as he was a former employee of the victim’s uncle, police said.
Kasim works as a labourer along with his other two associates, who belong to Darbhanga in Bihar.
