Michelle Obama to sponsor future Navy submarine

Washington, May 29: US First Lady Michelle Obama will sponsor a future Navy submarine named after her home state.

The White House said that Michelle Obama has accepted to be a sponsor of the future USS Illinois, a Virginia-class submarine.

According to Fox News, the new attack submarine is expected to join the fleet in late 2015.

As a sponsor, Michelle Obama will be involved in the life of the submarine and establish a special link with the ship’s sailors and their families. (ANI)
