New Delhi, June 22: Concluding their nationwide agitation against price rise, several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Friday courted arrest in various parts of the country.
While party president Nitin Gadkari courted arrest in Nagpur, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, former party chief Rajnath Singh, Rajya Sabha members Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Tarun Vijay and Harshvardhan were among other leaders who courted arrest in Delhi.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj courted arrest in Bhopal.
This marks the culmination of the Jan Sangharsh Abhiyaan (Public Struggle Campaign) which started June 7. The agitation was announced by the party during its national executive meet in Mumbai last month, against Congress-led government’s “maladministration”.
“More than 37 lakh people courted arrest at 15,000 places in 528 districts,” a statement from the party said here.
