Chinese President urges Iran to be ‘flexible, pragmatic’ on nuke talks

Tehran, June 9: China’s President Hu Jintao has called on his Iranian counterpart to be ‘flexible and pragmatic’ ahead of talks on Tehran’s nuclear programme.

According to Xinhua, Jintao urged Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to co-operate with the UN’s nuclear watchdog.

“China hopes Iran can take a flexible and pragmatic approach, have serious talks with all the six related nations and enhance dialogue and cooperation with the IAEA to ensure tensions are eased,” the BBC quoted Jintao, as saying.

Iran will hold talks with a group of six nations, commonly known as ‘P5+1′ on the nuclear issue.

They include the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Russia and China.

Talks between Iran and the six major powers are due next month. (ANI)
