Drunkard son kills father in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, June 9: A man shot his father dead Saturday evening for scolding him for his drinking habits in Bareilly, about 250 km from here, police said.

According to police, Rajesh alias Raju, a resident of Meerganj in Bareilly, is a drunkard and he often had a fight with his father Rameshwar Dayal on this.

Saturday around 4 p.m., when Rajesh was again chided by his father, he left the house and returned with a country-made pistol. He shot his 56-year-old father in the chest, killing him on the spot, Senior Superintendent of Police Bareilly Sanjeev Gupta told IANS.

Rajesh is on the run.

The family has, however, said the gun went off accidentally.
