Peshawar HC grants interim bail to deposed Pak PM nominee Shahabuddin in drugs case

Peshawar, June 22: The Peshawar High Court has granted interim bail to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Shahabuddin in the Ephedrine case.

Shahabuddin was the leading candidate of the PPP for the post of prime minister prior to an anti-narcotics court issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for him and Ali Musa Gilani, the son of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, reports The News.

After Shahabuddin had filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court, Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan remarked that he did not have the record nor was the case fixed in his court, after which orders were issued to make the supplementary list and proceedings were held again.

Following proceedings the Chief Justice of the PHC granted interim bail of seven days to Makhdoom Shahabuddin.

An Anti-Narcotics Forces magistrate had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani on Thursday. (ANI)
