London, June 5: Sophie-Leigh Anderson, who is engaged to Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam, has revealed that she loves flying the flag for her footballer fella and is proud of being referred to as a WAG.
As fiance of Adam, 26, she will be walking down the aisle in less than two weeks and can’t wait to join Abby Clancey, Alex Gerrard and Coleen Rooney in the glamorous Footballers’ Wives hall of fame.
“I’m proud to be a WAG and I like the stereotype – it’s fun. Who cares what other people think? It shows off what my partner does,” the Daily Star quoted the former beauty queen as saying.
“I’m proud to be Charlie’s fiance because he is doing really well and I’m sure many girls would love to be in my position and to have met someone so special.
“At the end of the day I’m lucky to be with someone I love. I don’t ever listen to the stories of footballers cheating. I trust my Charlie 100 percent,” she said.
The couple, who have been together for three years, met when the Scotland international was playing for her local team, Blackpool. He proposed last year but things haven’t always gone to plan.
Sophie is keeping details of the big day secret but said: “We’re having a massive wedding up in Scotland near his family and of course Charlie will be wearing a kilt. He’s very patriotic!”
Anderson is also a regular at Anfield, as she rarely misses a game and was at Wembley in March for the Carling Cup Final against Cardiff. The game finished 2-2 and went to a penalty-shoot-out – in which Charlie agonisingly missed his spot-kick.
“When Charlie missed the penalty my heart went into my stomach.
“I just couldn’t believe it. I think when it’s your partner you don’t really think about how it affects the game any more – you just think about how he will be feeling.
“He was gutted and I know he felt so disappointed afterwards,” she said. (ANI)
