Ukraine arrests four suspects over April bombings

KIEV, June 1 (Xinhua-ANI): Ukraine had arrested four men suspected of involvement in a recent spate of blasts in east Ukraine, local authorities said Friday.

Four blasts minutes apart rocked the city of Dnepropetrovsk on April 27, wounding at least 27 people, including nine teenagers.

“There is every evidence that all four people are directly involved in this heinous crime,” Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka said during an emergency meeting.

The preliminary results of the investigation had determined the explosions were an “act of terrorism,” Pshonka said, adding security authorities did not rule out a political motive behind them.

Interior Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko said Thursday the police had arrested two men from Dnepropetrovsk, who had planned new terror attacks and demanded 4.5 million U.S. dollars from authorities to drop their plan. (Xinhua-ANI)
