Dharamsala, July 4: Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama offered prayers on to condole the demise of Sonam Dolma, mother of late tenth Panchen Lama, Choekyi Gyaltsen Rinpoche, here.
Dolma passed away on June 29 in Siling, Tibet. She was 95.
The prayers service was held on Tuesday in the main temple and was attended by members of exiled Tibetan Parliament, including Tibetan PM-in-exile Lobsang Sangay, along with hundreds of exiled Tibetans, Buddhist monks and many foreign visitors.
Media Coordinator of Tibetan government in-exile, Lobsang, said the service was organised to mourn her demise and to pay tribute to Dolma.
“The Domey Association of Dharamsala has organised prayer service to mourn the demise of the mother of late Tenth Panchen Lama and they have invited His Holiness the Dalai Lama to preside over the prayer service,” Lobsang informed.
Mayum Sonam Dolma was born in Tibet in 1915 and was also the former vice-president of the Tibetan Autonomous Region’s congress. (ANI)
