Fix education system to fix graft: Baba Ramdev

Bengaluru, July 18: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said on Wednesday that the country’s education system must be overhauled to combat corruption.

Addressing media persons here, Ramdev said corruption is primarily perpetrated by the educated class, and added that if students had honest values, they would not be corrupt in their professional lives.

“It is not the illiterate who are corrupt. Ninety-nine per cent of corrupt practices are done by educated people. This does not mean I am against education. If the 25 years spent by an individual in our education system are not proper, then he will not earn properly in the next 25 years of his career,” he reasoned.

Warning the Centre, Baba Ramdev said the people would mend the ways of the government if it did not perform its duty.

“India is in terrible state. We demand (of the government) that things be set right, otherwise we shall set them right,” he said.

The yoga guru further said the government would be unable to foil his August 9 agitation, unlike his June 2011 protest, which was dispersed after a police crackdown.

“The government cannot stop the agitation of August 9 at any cost, no matter what conspiracies they may hatch. We did not stop, bend or get sold, and we will not stop, bend or get sold,” Baba Ramdev said. (ANI)
