Veerappa Moily justifies Shinde’s appointment as Home Minister

New Delhi, July 31: Union Corporate Affairs Dr. M. Veerappa Moily on Tuesday justified Sushil Kumar Shinde’s appointment as the country’s Home Minister, saying the latter has done a wonderful job as a Power Minister.

Dr. Moily, who has been the additional charge of the Power Ministry following Shinde’s appointment as Home Minister, said the development in the power sector has been exemplary in comparison to the previous regimes.

“Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde as a Power Minister has done a wonderful job. The development, which has taken place in the UPA-I and UPA-II particularly in the power sector, is unprecedented when compared to the previous regimes,” he said.

In a major Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, P. Chidambaram has been made the Finance Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde has been appointed the Home Minister of the country, and Veerappa Moily has been given the additional charge of the Power Ministry.

The post of the Finance Minister was left vacant after Pranab Mukherjee resigned from the post ahead of the presidential election. The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, was handling this office temporarily.

A further reshuffle is expected after the Monsoon Session of Parliament in September. (ANI)
