Bengaluru, Aug 19 (National): Police commissioner of Bangalore B.G. Jyothiprakash on Sunday has said that the police have stepped up security measures ahead of Eid.
Speaking to reporters here, Jyothiprakash said that extensive arrangements were in place for the festival and that 17,000 police personnel would be deployed on the road.
“Exhaustive arrangement has been made in connection with the festival tomorrow. About 17,000 policemen including myself will be on duty tomorrow. We have got three CRPF companies and three RAF companies that will be assisting the local police. We have got 25 Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons and 35 CRPF platoons. With this we have got 1,500 policemen who are undergoing training and they have completed about 7-8 months of training. They are also with us and about 100 home guards have already been deployed and we are expecting another 100 home guards to come by evening today,” Jyothiprakash explined.
He further said that influential leaders of different communities had assured the police that no untoward incident would take place during Eid.
“All the leaders, especially elderly people have totally assured us and they have also taken an oath with the youngsters to see that peace is maintained,” he said. (ANI)
