Amman, Aug. 28 (Xinhua-ANI): Jordan on Tuesday urged the international community to shoulder their responsibility amidst unprecedented influx of Syrian refugees to the country, the state- run Petra news agency reported.
“Refugee camps in Jordan that are allocated to host Syrian refugees face a huge difficulty in absorbing the increasing numbers of Syrian refugees,” Jordan’s Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Samih Maaytah said Tuesday.
“From Monday morning until Tuesday morning, more than 4,597 Syrian refugees entered Jordan,” said the minister.
There are over 150,000 Syrian refugees currently in Jordan.
“The large increase in numbers of Syrian refugees entering the Kingdom makes Jordan think of all options,” the minister said, adding that the refugees place pressure on the country’s limited resources in different sectors.
Maaytah urged the Arab and Islamic countries and the international agencies to help Jordan in dealing with the refugee influx. (Xinhua-ANI)
