London, Aug 6: China’s men’s table tennis team beat Germany 3-1 in a close game Monday to march into the final of the Olympic Games here.
China’s Ma Long defeated Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, London Olympic bronze medallist, 3-1 in the first singles match, reports Xinhua.
Germany’s Timo Boll, who failed to enter the men’s singles quarter-finals, beat China’s Zhang Jike, the new Olympic singles gold medallist, in the second match (3-1).
Chinese pair Wang Hao-Zhang won the middle match by beating German pair Bastian Steger-Boll 3-1.
Ma secured China’s victory in the fourth match against Steger 3-0.
China will face the winner between Hong Kong, China and South Korea in the final Wednesday.
