Guwahati, Sep 24: At least seven people were injured after suspected militants triggered a blast at Assam’s Sivsagar town late Monday evening, police said.
“The incident took place around 9.10 p.m. at a crowded market place, just in front of the Lakhi Cinema Hall in the town,” police said.
All the injured have been shifted to a local hospital, police said, adding that the conditions of three of them was said to be serious.
Police suspect that the militants might have planted the bomb in a cycle.
Sivsagar town is about 360 km away from the state’s main city of Guwahati, and the district is one of the 16 districts hit by the current wave of floods. At least 53 villages in the district have been submerged under water till Monday evening.
