New Delhi, Oct 9: Delhi BJP leader Vijay Goel on Tuesday accused activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal of hijacking his party protests against high electricity bill, and demanded a public apology from him.
Goel alleged that Kejriwal was weakening the fight against the ruling Congress party.
” Kejriwal thinks by joining politics he can criticize everybody. His attack on the Congress too has politics behind it,” Goel told media here.
Kejriwal had hijacked a BJP protest against high electricity bill in Delhi yesterday.
It was drama outside the office of Delhi’s power regulator on Monday when two groups-one led by BJP’s Vijay Goel and another by Kejriwal-assembled there for protest against the power tariff hike.
When invited on the stage by the BJP leader, Kejriwal turned on the BJP, saying that it was collaborating with the Congress to “loot the people”.
Kejriwal asked the BJP why they had not made public the May 2010 order by former DERC chairman Birjender Singh. This order had actually called for a reduction in the tariff.
“We have nothing to do with the BJP or Congress. We are here for the power tariff issue and we have some serious questions that we want the BJP to answer,” said Kejriwal.
Accusing the BJP of being hand-in-glove with the Congress, Kejriwal said the party had a copy of the order for the past one month.
“We told that on one side Sheila Dikshit has tried to withhold the orders stating 23 percent reduction in power tariff and we got to know that BJP had received the copy of that order one and a half month ago. BJP also withheld the orders. For the past three years, BJP has not raised the issue in the parliament nor in the legislative assembly. Therefore, it clearly shows that Congress and BJP are playing politics,” said Kejriwal. (ANI)
