New Delhi, Oct 30: Jitendra Singh, who took over as Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, on Tuesday said he will carry forward the good work initiated by his predecessor Ajay Maken.
“Mr. Ajay Maken has done a great job as a Sports Minister and I am going to carry forward his good work,” Singh told media after assuming charge.
Keeping in view the 50 percent of youth population in the country, Singh said that this Ministry have tremendous outreach and can deliver a lot especially connecting the young people belonging to North-East, Jammu and Kashmir and Naxal affected areas.
On the question of implementation of National Sports Code, he said: “I will take everyone on board and dominance should be on sportsmen and sports”.
He also stressed the need for transparency and accountability in the working of organizations.
After assuming charge, Singh had a detailed meeting with the Sports Secretary and discussed various issues concerning the Department.
Born on 12 June, 1971, Jitendra Singh was earlier Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs. (ANI)
