UP CMO abduction: Accused minister Vinod Singh resigns

Lucknow, Oct 12: Uttar Pradesh Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Singh, who was accused of abducting a chief medical officer, resigned from his post on Friday.

According to media reports, Singh was summoned by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday and asked to explain his actions. The state government had also set up a high level committee to look into the incident.

Vinod Singh allegedly abducted the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gonda district SP Singh in an attempt to force him to hire the minister’s candidates as doctors for the National Rural Health Mission scheme.

The list of hirees had been completed by a committee, which included the Medical Officer. The minister allegedly wanted it revised. (ANI)
