Pune, Oct.15: The government is taking steps to strengthen ties between the people of the northeast and residents of Pune.
It maybe recalled that thousands of people from the northeast returned to their hometowns after malicious rumors of them being attacked soon created panic in Karnataka, Chennai, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
Miscreants triggered the panic using the social media platforms and text messages.
Swiftly swinging into action, the central government blocked many of these websites, stepped up the security and did everything to bring people back.
Today, things are normal in these places and people are back with their routines.
Taking a step forward, the government is chalking out a strategy to counter such incidents in future.
It is organizing event to bring people from Northeast and other states on a single platform.
Recently a musical evening titled as Sadbhawana Concert was organized in Pune where cultural troupes from Northeast region performed.
“We have organized this program to promote communal harmony in the Pune city,” said Chandrashekhar Daithankar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune.
Hundreds of visitors from different parts of the Pune city attended the concert.
Several traditional dances like Bihu dance from Assam, bamboo dance from Mizoram and the war dance from Nagaland was performed at the event showcasing the unity between the people of Northeast and Pune city.
“We want to send a message to the world that we are united and no one can separate us. Together we aim to promote communal harmony in the region and we have chosen music as a medium for it,” said Captain Rahul Bali, one of the organizer’s of the concert.
The Government is planning to organize many more such events in other parts of the country where artists from the Northeast region will share platform with artists from other parts of the country.
It will not just help people learn more about the Northeast region but will also strengthen ties between them. (ANI)
