Muzaffarpur, Oct 29: Two FIRs have been filed in Bihar’s Vaishali district against former MLA Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, who is serving jail term in connection with the murder of former minister Brij Bihari Prasad.
Shukla, who is lodged in Muzaffarpur central jail, has been booked for illegal possession of a mobile phone and for allegedly demanding Rs 2 crore as extortion money from an owner of a private engineering college.
Jailer Dilip Mishra filed the first FIR at the Mithanpura police station, the other FIR was lodged with Bhagwanpur police station by the director of Patna Sahib College of Engineering and Technology, Santlal Yadav.
The money was demanded allegedly for organizing the JD-U’s Adhikar Rally to be held in Patna on November 4.
Shukla, whose wife Annu Shukla is a JD(U) MLA from the Lalganj the assembly seat once represented by her husband, is currently lodged in the Shaheed Khudiran Bose Central Jail in Muzaffarpur after being convicted for the murder of former Bihar minister Brij Bihari Prasad.
Shukla has been accused in several criminal cases and is in jail since 2010 after being convicted for the 1998 killing of Brij Bihari Prasad, the then science and technology Minister in the Rabri Devi cabinet.
He was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast-track court in the Gopalganj district magistrate G Krishnaiyah killing case. (ANI)
