India, Spain sign five bilateral pacts after delegation-level talks in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct. 26: India and Spain on Friday signed five agreements that will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

A Ministry of External Affairs statement said that after dlegation-level talks held here, the two sides signed the following five pacts:

(1) A Protocol for amending the Convention and Protocol between India and Spain for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital. This was signed by Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garc¡a-Margallo y Marfil.

(2) A Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation. This was signed by Defence Ministers of both countries-A.K. Antony and Pedro Moren‚s Eulate. This agreement will facilitate defence cooperation between Indian and Spain by exchanging defence related experience, information, encouraging visits of personnel, collaboration in defence industry and other similar areas of cooperation.

(3) A Memorandum of Understanding on Roads and Road Transport Sector Ministry of Road Transport And Highways. This was signed by Road Transport and Highways Minister C.P. Joshi and Spain’s Minister for Public Works And Transport Ana Pastor Juli
