Infant dies after falling into open sewer

New Delhi, Oct 9: A one-year-old girl, Aarushi, died after falling into an open sewer outside her house in Rajveer Colony in Kondli area here Tuesday morning, police said.

“Hearing Aarushi’s screams, her father rushed and took her out. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The hospital authority informed us,” police said.

“A few days ago civic authorities opened the sewer’s slab to clean the sewer but did not replace it,” a police officer said on the basis of the allegation by the victim’s family.

A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered against unknown people and an inquiry is on, said the officer.
