Gurgaon, Oct 21: Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) Sunday undertook a massive plantation drive in the Aravalli hills near its Manesar plant, a company official said.
The programme titled “Green Aravalli” was flagged off by Sikander Yadav, the sarpanch of Pachgaon and M.M. Singh, the company’s COO (Production).
Nearly 550 Maruti Suzuki employees along with members from the village panchayat and villagers took part in plantation drive.
People planted over 500 saplings of medicinal and herbal plants such as neem, banyan, tamarind, Bel Patra, Kadamb etc. at the 2 acres of land allocated specially by the village community and the sarpanch of Pachgaon.
To ensure survival of these saplings, Maruti Suzuki will render support and care to the plants for the next 2-3 years. Tree guards will be put at each sapling to guard it.
