Minor fire at children’s home in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 24: A fire broke out in a children’s home here but was doused in half an hour, police said Wednesday. No casualties were reported.

“The incident took place at about 3.35 p.m at the home in Alipur area of north Delhi. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire broke out in a room on the first floor,” said a senior police officer. Children aged between 6 and 12 years stay in the home.

All the children were evacuated while a 10-year-old child, trapped in the toilet on the first floor, was rescued by the firemen, said the police official.

The fire was doused in half an hour.

Some furniture was gutted in the fire, the official said.
