Mumbai, Oct.11: Police in Mumbai confirmed on Thursday that they had arrested an imposter who was posing and projecting himself as the youngest son of Congress Party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.
Mumbai Police said the imposter, identified as Vijay Dwivedi, was introducing himself across the city as Malay Dwivedi, the youngest son of Janardan Dwivedi.
They said that Vijay, had during his interrogation, confessed and admitted to having committed a number of acts of forgery and fraud using Janardan Dwivedi’s son’s name as an alias.
They said that he had also revealed that he had conducted a similar operation in national capital New Delhi before he was caught by the police there last year.
Vijay Dwivedi revealed that he had been habitually committing acts of fraud and forgery on previous occasions, and added that he plied his criminal activities in Mumbai after escaping from the clutches of the law enforcement authorities in Delhi.
Mumbai Police said they picked up Vijay Dwivedi from his Mumbai residence located in the Raheja Classique apartment complex in Lokhandwala in Mumbai’s Andheri West area.
They said that they would provide more details about Dwivedi after further interrogation. (ANI)
