Karachi, Oct. 16: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has offered a 1 million dollar bounty for Ehsanullah Eshan, the central spokesman for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which claimed responsibility for the attack on 14-year-old education activist Malala Yousufzai’s life.
“What is important is that the guy who said the TTP was responsible for her assassination, I am announcing today a 1 million dollar bounty on his head, which is more than 100 million rupees, because we want to definitely get him,” The Dawn quoted Malik, as saying.
Last week, Ehsan had released a series of messages trying to justify the attack with Islamic law in an apparent attempt to take on public opinion.
“It’s a clear command of sharia that any female, that by any means play role in war against mujahideen, should be killed. Malala Yousufzai was playing a vital role in bucking up the emotions of Murtad (apostate) army and Government of Pakistan, and was inviting Muslims to hate mujahideen,” Ehsan said in his message.
Malik further claimed that he had the names of the terrorists involved and had detained the fiancee of one of the men hunted by security forces.
Malik said that according to details unearthed in the probe, the attack on Malala was planned in Afghanistan.
He said the government was providing security to Malala’s family and to two other girls also wounded in the same attack.
Malala, who earned international fame for raising voice against Taliban oppression in Swat, was shot in the neck and head and two other girls sustained injuries when the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) opened fire on their school van in Swat valley on Tuesday.
She is now being treated at a hospital in Birmingham, UK. (ANI)
