Shimla, Oct. 30: Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday took a jibe at the opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for misguiding the nation on the issue of foreign direct investment (FDI).
Addressing a rally ahead of assembly elections in the state, Sonia said the BJP is not concerned about the farmers and is more devoted to playing dirty politics.
“The leaders of the BJP are spreading rumours on this issue (FDI) whereas the Chief Ministers can allow FDI in retail in their states as per their own will,” Gandhi said.
Emphasizing her party’s commitment towards the eradication of corruption, she said the way the Congress and UPA government has fought against corruption, no other party has ever done before.
“We took legal action against those against whom we had evidence. I want to ask the BJP – have you taken any action against your leaders who are mired in corruption charges? They have not taken any action,” added Sonia.
She also urged the people to oust the BJP Government in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
“This is election season and parties will make promises to you but I trust the people of Himachal are aware and will not be swayed by false promises and will the right decision,” asserted Sonia Gandhi.
The single-phase elections in Himachal Pradesh will take place on November 04 while counting of votes is scheduled on December 20. (ANI)
