South African side Lions dumps Delhi Daredevils out of CLT20 in semifinal

Johannesburg, Oct 26(ANI): Delhi Daredevils, the only Indian Premier League team to have reached the semifinal stage of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, once again failed to make it to the final of a major competition, as they lost to Highveld Lions by 22 runs at Kingsmead on Thursday in the first semifinal.

Fast bowler Chris Morris bowled superbly, claiming important wickets of Kevin Pietersen (50 off 44) and David Warner (21 off 18) as the Daredevils stumbled to 117 for nine in pursuit of 140 for victory.

Indian opener Virender Sehwag once again disappointed fans after he got out on the very first ball of the Daredevils innings.

Morris received good support from all his teammates, with Aaron Phangiso (2-18) and Dirk Nannes (2-34) the other bowlers to pick up two wickets apiece, Sports24 reports.

Earlier, Gulam Bodi struck a measured 50 off 49 deliveries at the top of the Lions’s innings and Neil McKenzie blazed 46 off 28 to help lift the Lions to a total, which proved to be a match-winning one.

The Lions will now meet either the Titans or Sydney Sixers in Sunday’s final. (ANI)
