Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: Acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Tuesday created an image of Pakistani school girl Malala Yousufzai using three tonnes of sand on the beach of his home town in Odisha to wish her a speedy recovery. Malala was shot by Taliban last week for opposing them.
Pattnaik has created the face of the 14-year-old teenaged rights activist with a message ‘Malala get well soon’ on the beach of Puri, 56 km from here. He has also used different colours to make the five-foot high sculpture lively.
“I have created the sculpture and I pray to god for her speedy recovery,” Sudarsan told IANS.
Malala has been undergoing treatment in Britain after she was flown from Pakistan a week after she and two other schoolgirls were attacked as they were returning home from a school in Mingora in the Swat valley.
She was targeted by the Taliban for supporting education for girls. She had a bullet removed from her skull last week.
