Tata Docomo eyes number one slot in Bengal circle

Kolkata, Oct 17: Tata Docomo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd, is eyeing the number one slot in the West Bengal circle in the next three years, a top company executive said Wednesday.

The firm currently enjoys number three position in the Bengal circle in terms of revenue. It had a 12.5 percent market share in revenue in the circle in the June quarter.

“We will take this to a leadership position. Certainly, we have a business plan. It will depend on how well we will be able to acquire higher value subscribers. It will take at least two to three years for us to acquire a leadership position in the circle,” Tata Teleservices Ltd circle head, West Bengal and NESA, Ashok Ghose told mediapersons here.

“We are aiming to increase our revenue market share to 34 percent in the next three years,” Ghose said.

He was speaking to the reporters on the occasion of announcing an array of special offers and activities during Durga Puja.

The telecom major, which has a presence in the country’s 22 circles, possesses a subscriber base of 2.15 million in the West Bengal circle. In terms of customers, it has an 11 percent market share in the circle.
