London, Oct. 9: A 16-year-old cheerleader from Texas has broken the handspring world record by doing 35 simultaneous back flips.
Giving the halftime performance of a lifetime, Miranda Ferguson, a high school junior at the Hockaday School, left the football crowd and two Guinness Book of World Records officials absolutely stunned in amazement, with her incredible performance.
After completing 20 handsprings at last year’s game, Ferguson set her sights on beating the world record of 32, and this year she back flipped her way from one 15-yard line on the field to the other.
“I’m extremely excited, but also really relieved. I was really nervous that if I did one more that I was just going to fall, so I was like, ‘I’m going to stay at 35. I got this,’” the Daily Mail quoted Ferguson, as saying.
She said that the crowd, who counted along with each back flip, helped get get though it – their cheering keeping her energy high.
“Really just the fans out there really helped me get through it,’ she said. ‘My head isn’t too bad, but my back is kind of sore. I’m sure I’m going to feel it tomorrow,” she said. (ANI)
