New Delhi, Nov 15: Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia Thursday took the stock of safety arrangements for Chhat Puja in the capital and instructed officials to take adequate measures to ensure safety of the devotees.
Walia directed officials of the irrigation and flood control department to place barricades near the Yamuna bank while inspecting arrangements in east Delhi for Chhat Puja, which is likely to be observed Nov 19, a government official said.
While motorboats and divers have been readied to handle emergencies, mobile dispensaries have been stationed near the Yamuna and other water bodies where devotees are expected to throng.
The health minister also directed the East Delhi Municipal Corporation to facilitate spraying of insecticides and pesticides at the sites where devotees will perform the puja, and remove garbage from various areas near the Yamuna bank.
