Islamabad, Nov 9: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned against terror attacks in the country during Muharram-ul-Harram, saying that the occasion could be used by ‘foreign elements’ to instigate sectarian strife.
Chairing a meeting on the law and order situation, Malik said that the government has received threats of terrorism during Muharram and steps will be taken to tackle them, reports The News.
Malik has directed transmission of religious channels to be suspended during Muharram-ul-Harram.
He said that helicopters and CCTV cameras will be used for surveillance of Muharram processions, and additional contingents of police will be deployed outside mosques and Imambargahs. (ANI)
