Little Santas bring smiles on faces of Kolkata old age home residents

Kolkata, Dec 21: Young children dressed up as Santa Claus sang carols and danced to traditional music, bringing a smile on the faces of grandpas and grandmas living in an old age home here, even as the city gears up for X-mas.

A young musical band performed Christmas carols to entertain the old folks, followed by a cultural dance performance by school children.

Christians make up around two percent of India’s 1.2 billion strong population with its largest concentration in the southern and north-eastern states.

“The reason to come here during the Christmas to this St. Joseph’s old age home is to bring the joy of happiness, Christmas and to spend with these inmates a little time. We want to give them the joy of being with their families and to be a part of the family. These people are devoid of that. Everyone of us does have our grandpas’ and grandmas’. They all crave for this throughout the year, to spend with their near and dear ones,” said Bose, one of the organizers of the event.
