Johannesburg, Jan 18: Former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher has been engaged to mentor young keeper-batsman Quinton de Kock, to prepare for his role as a wicketkeeper for the three-match series, before the first ODI against New Zealand at Boland Park stadium in Paarl, South Africa.
Coach Gary Kirsten said that spending time with an experienced cricketer such as Boucher would give Quinton an opportunity to understand the required skills and the pressures of international competition, reports Sport24.
Kirsten said that he is not much worried about de Kock’s recent on-field misconduct, as he hopes that the youngster will learn from the current environment of the South African team, whose strength and successful team culture can be seen in their performances.
Boucher was forced to retire last year because of a freak eye injury during South Africa’s tour opener in England. (ANI)
