Beijing, Jan 8: A train driver was killed Tuesday in China’s Kunming city during a test run of a metro line, Xinhua reported.
Another driver was injured during the test run in the Yunnan province capital, a government spokesman said.
He said a test train was derailed, causing the vehicle’s heating device to fall and hit the drivers inside their cabin.
The city’s first metro line is scheduled for trial operation in February.
This was the third accident in two weeks related to metro lines under construction in China.
On Dec 31, five workers were killed and 18 others injured when a platform collapsed in a parking lot near a metro line in Shanghai.
On Jan 2, three workers were injured after a tunnel of a metro line under construction in the southern city of Nanning collapsed.
