Agartala, Jan 18: The Election Commission has transferred six civil service officers, including a district magistrate, and barred them from election duties in Tripura, officials said Friday. The state is scheduled to go to the polls Feb 14.
“The officials were transferred following alleged violation of the model code of conduct,” a Election Commission official told IANS.
Those transferred include district magistrate of Sipahijala and sub-divisional magistrates of Dharmanagar, Kamalpur, Jirania and Sonamura and Udaipur.
“We had to transfer these officials and bar them from election-related duties following directives of the Election Commission. The commission took the decision after probing complaints against them,” said the official.
Opposition Congress had filed the complaints against the officers.
