Facebook apologizes for threatening Conservative ‘Chicks’

Washington, Jan 24: Facebook has issued an apology after threatening to shut down a “Chicks on the Right” fan page over a post that criticised the Obama Administration.

“Chicks on the Right” is a popular conservative website that boasts more than 90,000 fans on their Facebook page, reports Fox News.

One of the two women who run the site, received a notice that she was locked out of her personal Facebook page as well as administrative functions on the “Chicks on the Right” page because a posting had violated the company’s standards.

Facebook spokesman Fred Wolens told Fox News that the users were incorrectly warned by the User Operation’s Team and that they have already removed all associated blocks from the accounts.

Wolens said their team reviews millions of pieces of content every day – and chalked up what happened to an innocent mistake.

However, in the few hours since the original report was posted, Fox News has heard from a number of readers who said they’ve also been subjected to Facebook blocks over conservative content.

The ladies who run the website believe there’s another motive behind the threat- targeting

Conservatives. One of the ladies believes liberals “who are hell-bent on silence conservatives” are trolling conservative pages and reporting specific posts.

And there are reportedly plenty of vulgar Facebook pages directed at conservatives which haven’t been taken down.

As a result of the incident, the “Chicks” have launched a new social networking site on TeaPartyCommunity.com. They said it is a “safe place”. (ANI)
