New Delhi, Jan 27: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Jan ta Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh met here on Sunday and discussed preparations for and prospects of the 2014 general elections.
Interacting with media after the meeting at his residence, Singh said Modi had congratulated him on his elevation as party chief and added that they had discussed future plans to strengthen the party in Gujarat and the upcoming general elections.
“I am here to congratulate and seek guidance from our newly elected president. We both discussed about our future programme for development of Gujarat and to strengthen the party amid 2014 election,” Modi also confirmed.
Modi had earlier tweeted: “Leaving for Delhi. Will meet Shri Rajnath Singhji and congratulate him on his taking over as BJP President.”
Rajnath Singh was formally elected as BJP president on Wednesday, as there was no other leader from the party had filed nomination papers. (ANI)
