Beijing, Jan 8: Six Chinese officials have been suspended from their posts after a fire in an unlicensed orphanage killed six children in Henan province, authorities said Tuesday.
A 20-year-old man also died in the fire at the orphanage last week, the China Daily reported.
The Lankao county government suspended chief civil affairs official Yang Peimin and five others pending further investigation, officials said.
The orphanage was owned by a resident, Yuan Lihai. All the deceased were orphans or abandoned children. They were left unattended when the fire broke out, as the owner was taking a few older children to school.
