London, Jan 13: Mexican Sergio Perez has said he is already feeling part of the McLaren family, just days after joining the F1 team.
Perez, who appears to already have his feet at the team’s Woking HQ, should sound the alarm bells for his team-mate Jenson Button.
According to the Sun, Button had planned to become the team’s No1 driver this year following Lewis Hamilton’s decision to sign for Mercedes.
The 32-year-old had hinted that Perez, 22, still had a lot to learn before he was capable of challenging for a world title.
But Perez, who signed a three-year deal worth 20 million pounds to make a switch from Sauber, is confident he can cope with the extra pressure of driving for a top team, the report said.
He said that he is quite surprised about how warm and together the team is.
He said that being part of the family is great, adding that they chose him because they saw he could win the world championship.
Perez spent the winter getting in shape for the new F1 season, which kicks off on March 17th in Melbourne, the report added. (ANI)
