Mumbai, Jan 23: Worli, in the heart of posh south Mumbai will celebrate its very own three-day cultural festival starting Jan 25, a minister said Wednesday.
Announcing the launch, Minister of State for Housing Sachin Ahir said the festival is in line with the cultural diversity that can be seen in Worli.
Ahir heads an NGO Shri Sankalp Prathishthan, which is the main organiser of the event.
“Worli is a place where we see a lot of cultural diversity and there could be nothing better than Worli Festival to showcase the rich culture of Worli to Mumbai,” Ahir said.
“The main reason behind hosting this kind of a festival is to get people together in this fast-paced city where weekends are just for malls and movies. This festival is a symbolic representation of rich culture and heritage of Mumbai,” he added.
Open to all, the festival offers Mumbaikars an opportunity to see artists from diverse genres of art, music, culture, food, sports, dance and entertainment, a perfect blend for a fun-filled weekend.
The festival will witness a host of musical performances, stand-up comedians and entertaining artists. Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar will mark the opening night of the festival. Star attraction singer Sukhvinder Singh will perform on the closing night.
There will be total 24 performances over three days. Additionally, there are performances by an international stilt walker and jugglers. There will also be a Laser show and fireworks, which Mumbaikars will get to witness.
