Hooghly, Jan 19: Irate Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers on Saturday pelted stones at a police station and damaged its property in here in West Bengal after a person was allegedly killed in police custody on Jan ary 18.
Police chased away the protestors after a vehicle and signboard of the police station was damaged in the conflict.
The police allegedly thrashed up a 38-year-old truck driver, Kaji Nasiruddin, to death after his lorry ran over a police bike.
“He was a TMC worker. He helped the MLA in securing electoral victory. Today he died and the MLA has gone away. Why our MLA is not with us today?” said Idris Ali, a local.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer tried to calm the agitated locals. (ANI)
