Cache of ammunition recovered in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector

Gursai (Jammu and Kashmir), Feb 1: Acting on a tip-off, police officials in Jammu and Kashmir along with a squad of Special Operations Group (SOG) on Friday, recovered ample quantity of ammunition and explosive after busting a militants’ network in Poonch sector.

The joint operation was conducted based on inputs from informers and intelligence reports.

“The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Mendhar range, Amit Bhasin along with his team had launched a search operation after they obtained inputs from informers and intelligence sources that a couple of over ground networks are trying to shift cache of ammunition of militants from one place to the other. The surveillance and search operations resulted in the recovery of this lot of ammunition,” said Yougal Manas, Additional Superintendent of Police, Poonch district.

The recovered ammunition included six under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), grenades, two batteries, one AK magazine, 45 AK rounds and some accessories of explosive.

However, no arrests were made from the spot since the arms-runners had managed to give a slip to the raiding police personnel and flee. (ANI)
