New Delhi, Feb 21: Describing the incident of serial bomb blasts in Hyderabad on Thursday evening as ‘dastardly attack’, and urging people to maintain calm and peace, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh conveyed that the culprits behind the incident will not go unpunished.
Expressing sorrow over the incident, a tweet from the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) vowed, “The guilty will not go unpunished.”
At least 11 people have been killed and nearly 50 were injured after bombs placed on bicycles exploded near two cinemas in the crowded Dilsukh Nagar area of the city.
According to NDTV, the PMO has announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of the each deceased and Rs. 50,000 each to the injured people.
Talking to reporters here soon after the incident, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that his office has got some information about the possible blasts two days before, but there was no specific information to them.
“It is a very unfortunate and extremely condemnable incident. The government is wholeheartedly with the kins of those killed in the blasts, and we will take total care of those injured,” said Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari.
Union Home Secretary, R. K. Singh said he has already spoken to Governor, Chief Secretary and DGP of Andhra Pradesh and local National Investigation Team (NIA) has reached the spot and the affected area has been cordoned off.
Reports say that one blast took place at around 7 p.m. near a cinema theatre in the busy Dilsukh Nagar area while another took place near a bus stand in the same area.
Meanwhile, red alert has been sounded in all the major cities of the country including the national capital and the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. (ANI)
