India TV apologises to Rehman Malik for IM suspect image goof up

Karachi, Feb 26: Indian television channel India TV has apologised for inadvertently using the photo of slain Sindh MPA Manzar Imam, after mistaking him for an alleged Indian Mujahideen member of the same name, who is believed to be involved in the Hyderabad twin blasts that took place last week.

Earlier on Monday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik had demanded a formal apology from India for using the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member’s image, reports The Express Tribune.

Two bombs placed on bicycles exploded in a crowded market place at Dilsukh Nagar in Hyderabad on Feb uary 21 within a radius of 150 metres, claiming 16 lives and leaving more than 100 others injured. The twin blasts came less than two weeks after India hanged Afzal Guru for a militant attack on the country’s Parliament House in 2001.

Rehman had said that the allegation brought an ill repute to Pakistan and demanded that proof be provided for making such serious allegations. He also urged India to verify before making any comments. (ANI)
