Sydney, Feb 25: The Australian team has supported off-spinner Nathan Lyon on his bowling before India gained the lead on day three of the first Test in Chennai at a score of 8-515.
Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade said that Lyon had produced a good delivery to bowl Indian great Sachin Tendulkar’s every ball, and added that he is confident that Lyon can regain his form again on the fourth day, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
India captain MS Dhoni had ripped the Australian bowling to shreds, having smashed 22 fours and five sixes from 243 deliveries, the report added.
Stating that it is difficult for Lyon to show the same form he did while bowling to Tendulkar, Wade said that the team has not lost confidence in Lyon and added that the off-spinner bowled well at times, although he also got hit for a few runs.
Dhoni shared a 128-run stand for the fifth wicket with Virat Kohli (107) after Australia had been in a strong position with India 4-196 when Tendulkar was bowled by Lyon for 81.
Lyon had figures of 3-182 off 40 overs by the end of the match, the report added. (ANI)
