Manama, Feb 21: A 31 year-old policewoman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who is the size of a three year old girl, has hoped to stake claim to title of the world’s shortest policewoman so that she can champion the cause of people with special needs.
Sergeant Aisha Hamoudi, who is 2 feet 8 inches tall, said that she had written to the Guinness World Records so that she can influence the recognition and become an ambassador for the physically challenged, Gulf News reports.
Hamoudi added that she had joined the police as she felt that it is the only institution closest to the people, and added that another reason was that her father and brothers were also in the force.
Hamoudi, who works at the Al Bidiya police station in Fujairah, UAE, said that disability is nothing to be ashamed of, and should not prevent anyone from leading a normal life.
Adding that she would like to be married to a non-disabled person so that her condition is not passed to her future children, Hamoudi said that she had never allowed her size to be a stumbling block.
According to Hamoudi, disability, which she said is a state of the mind, can only be an impediment to a person if he/she does not work around it.
The eldest of five sisters and two brothers, Aisha, who weighs just 20kg, is the only one in her family with this condition, which had been caused by a growth hormone deficiency, the report added. (ANI)
